When you move into a new build flat the clean walls, lack of clutter and bright spaces can seem overwhelming or perhaps you are a fan of clinical minimalism. Whatever your feelings most of the time the clear blank walls can after a while seem less that homely and dire need of some decoration, colour or personalisation – but what to hang there?

Do not however forget the wealth of information that can be found online for free – there are a huge number of extremely style forward and interior savvy bloggers out there, whose blogs are full of inspirational looks, pictures and recommendations of where to buy things. Also picture websites such as We Heart It are packed with beautiful and inspirational images from which you can copy them straight off or you can mix and match specific elements that catch your attention and make the design your own.

One of the best ways to personalise and bring life into a room that is looking slightly cold, clinical and impersonal is by investing in prints and hanging personal photographs. Use online retailers such as Etsy and Folksly to pick out one of a kind and often hand drawn, printed illustrations, you can use your own personal photographs and invest in some eye cathcing frames. Choose to hang a few, or why not cover a whole wall in images and make that the feature of your room.
